This Christmas Joey and I had the opportunity to go see Chris Tomlin for his "Glory in the Highest" tour at our church. The night was absolutely amazing. Everything from the music right down to the stage decor was magical and truly made it feel like a Christmas celebration. Hearing a speaker talk on the night Jesus was born brough a whole new meaning to the story I've grown numb to hearing each year at this time. I never knew that the shepherds who the angel came to were the shepherds who cared for the sheep used for sacrifices. Those sheep were sent to Bethlehem where they were sacrificed at the alter to pay for sins. How amazing that those very shepherds were the first to hear of Christ's birth. Those shepherds would be affected by the birth of Christ, for HE would be the ultimate sacrifice! It was tax day in Bethlehem, and the craziest night of the year, and THAT's when Jesus came. Jesus was sent in the ultimate chaos, in the form of a tiny baby. He wasn't born in some amazing, eye catching way......he was born amongst farm animals huddled in what was most likely a cave to a woman who i'm guessing did NOT want her water to break while sleeping in the cave, but most likely after getting back home to her family, but none of that was in the plans!

After Chris was done simging, he introduced a young woman who sat at a piano and sang what has become my all-time favorite Christmas song. The lyrics are simply mind-blowing, and her voice honestly couldn't be any other to melt those words to your heart. She sang effortlessly, and even more amazing was the schock across every one's faces when they heard her God given gift. It was such an increible experience. Enjo this video, and the lyrics. . . .

Winter Snow
by Audrey Assad

Could’ve come like a mighty storm
With all the strength of a hurricane
You could’ve come like a forrest fire
With the power of heaven in your flame

But you came like a winter snow
Quiet and soft and slow
Falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below

Could’ve swept in like a tidal wave
Or an ocean to ravish our hearts
You could have come through like a roaring flood
To wipe away the things we’ve scarred

But you came like a winter snow
Quiet and soft and slow
Falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below

No, your voice wasn’t in a bush burning
No, your voice wasn’t in a rushing wind
It was still, it was small, it was hidden

But you came like a winter snow
Quiet and soft and slow
Falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below
